Samaritans has been awarded funding from the Scottish Executive as part of the Choose Life initiative aimed at reducing the levels of suicide in Scotland over the next ten years.

The funding has allowed Samaritans to employ a Scottish Development Manager, Frances Simpson, whose role is to support Samaritans in Scotland in the areas of volunteer recruitment, publicity, awareness of our work, and liaison with other organisations in support of The Scottish Executive's aims of reducing suicide by at least 20% by 2013.
